Paddy Almond
During Darlington Football Club’s FA Trophy game at Southend United on Saturday 14th January 2023, defender Paddy Almond came off in the second half and was rushed to hospital with suspected concussion.
Following a brain scan at Southend Hospital, Paddy was diagnosed with a bleed on the brain and was transferred to Royal London Hospital at around midnight on Saturday, where he was under the observation of specialists.
On Sunday 15th January 2023 the DFCSG board launched a GoFundMe campaign as a token of support and also to help with out-of-pocket expenses for Paddy and his family.
Paddy played for the club on a non-contract basis and works part-time.
The generosity of both Darlo fans and the wider football community was astounding. The total ticked over £8,000 roughly 24 hours after the fundraiser was launched and hit five figures just after lunchtime on Tuesday 17th January.
In total, a staggering £13,652 was raised for Paddy and his family. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed.
Everyone at DFCSG and YOURCLUB wishes Paddy and his family all the very best for the future.
