Her Game Too

Her Game Too - tackling sexism and championing women in sport...

Founded in May 2021, Her Game Too is a voluntary campaign led by a team of dedicated female football fans who are passionate about creating a positive change in football and the wider sporting world.

The organisation aims to raise awareness and educate others on the importance of inclusivity and diversity in sports.

HGT's ultimate goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of their background, ability, or gender. They believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in sports and have access to the same resources and opportunities.

HGT not only want to raise awareness, but also offer education to promote a safe and inclusive sporting culture. Their team is committed to driving positive change and making a real difference in the world of sports.

Upon announcing the partnership between DFC and HGT in November 2023, Joanne Cameron commented: "I came across Her Game Too via social media and was really interested and impressed with the work that they do. I wanted to be part of it!"

"I became interested in football because of my son. He played football and also wanted to go and watch DFC play but, due to his age at the time, he couldn’t go alone so I took him. The phrase "if you can’t beat them, join them..." springs to mind."

"I would like to see each club become part of HGT, and see the brand and vision grow. HGT needs to be the first point of contact for women and girls who experience sexism and misogyny."

"As an ambassador for Her Game Too, I want to actively promote HGT’s vision, tackle sexism in football, promote equality and ensure football is a sport for all. It should be a welcoming environment for everyone. As well as playing an active role at my own club, I will also extend this to schools and junior teams in my area."

Darlington COO David Johnston commented: "The board, staff and players at Darlington FC are delighted to extend and deepen our partnership with Her Game Too. Equality in sport has evolved massively and we want to keep this pace of change going. By partnering with HGT, we accelerate our understanding and learn from peer clubs, which is a great resource to draw on."

On March 2nd 2024, the football club held a 'Her Game Too Day' when Banbury United visited Blackwell Meadows.
