WELCOME FROM JON SADDINGTON
Last week's FA Cup exit against Morecambe was naturally disappointing. I'd been hoping this might be the year we could put together a decent cup run, with all the benefits that brings in terms of revenue, attention, attendances and a real sense of occasion around the club.
Unfortunately, the draw wasn't especially kind to us. An away tie at Morecambe looked one of the hardest tests we could have faced at that stage of the competition, and despite everyone's efforts, it turned out that way.
Our attention now turns back to the league and, in many respects, that's where the biggest opportunities lie. We have an important run of fixtures ahead, starting with today's game against Merthyr Town and followed by matches against Telford and Spennymoor. These are the kind of games that can shape a season. A couple of positive results can quickly change our position in the table, and the mood around the Club.
The timing feels important too. For much of the season we've been waiting to see something close to our strongest squad available, and there are encouraging signs on that front. Players returning from injury will not only strengthen the starting eleven but also give the management team greater depth and options from the bench.
Today's visitors have made a solid start to life in National League North following promotion. Under manager Paul Michael they have carried forward the positive approach that brought them success last season and have already shown they are capable of competing well at this level.

Results such as a win at Chester and a draw at Scarborough Athletic highlight their ability away from home, while experienced figures such Jay Foulstone, Jack Evans, and Kane Simpson provide quality throughout the team.
They will undoubtedly provide a tough test this afternoon, but it feels like an important moment in our own season.
With players returning, points there to be won, and a run of fixtures that offers genuine opportunity, there's every reason to believe the picture could look considerably brighter by the time October draws to a close.
As always, thank you for your continued support. It remains the foundation of our football club and never goes unnoticed.
Finally, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to the supporters, players, and officials of Merthyr Town.
