Missed yesterday's game or just couldn't get hold of a programme? YOURCLUB Content brings you DFCSG's programme notes from the Spennymoor game.
WELCOME FROM JON SADDINGTON
We entertain local rivals, Spennymoor Town, for our first local derby of the season.
Playing Spennymoor invokes memories of our mutual progression from the Northern League to National League North and, of course, that play-off semi-final victory in 2015 when David Dowson squeezed home an 89th minute winner.
Spenny have experienced a mixed start to the season including an impressive 3-0 open day win against Chester and defeats to regelation contenders, Leamington and Rushall Olympic.
Spenny legends, Glen Taylor and Rob Ramshaw have been joined by summer signings Ben Beals, Nathan McGinley, Dane Burlace, Dan Rowe, JJ Hooper, Junior Mondal and Olly Dyson, whilst former Middlesbrough midfielder, Isaac Fletcher, has started the season strongly.
From a Darlo perspective, the Leamington match saw a clear improvement in our possession and organisation. Our summer signings have added strength and depth to the squad whilst key players are gradually returning from injury, which bodes well for the months ahead.
Tomorrow, Darlington FC Women begin their season with an FA Cup encounter against GT7 Ladies FC from the Lancashire Women's County League. The match will take place at the Eastbourne Sports complex, kick of 2pm. Free entry, everyone is welcome!
Finally, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to the supporters, players, and officials of Spennymoor Town. Enjoy the game!
NOMINATIONS FOR THE DFCSG BOARD
It's that time of year again for DFCSG members to submit nominations for Directors to the DFCSG Board. DFCSG members should have received an email on 21st August inviting nominations. If you are a DFCSG member and didn't receive this email, please contact neil.raper@darlingtonfc.org.
The closing date for submitting nominations is Thursday 19th September. If six or more nominations are received, there will be a full ballot of the DFCSG membership. If five or fewer nominations are received, they will be subject to an 'affirmative' ballot at the AGM. The 'affirmative' ballot requires that for a nominee to be elected to the Board, they would need to receive at least 50% of the votes of those members attending the AGM.
The provisional date for the AGM is Thursday 24th October and formal notifications will follow in due course.
