DFCSG News - Spennymoor, 28th Oct 2023

Missed yesterday's game or just couldn't get hold of a programme? YOURCLUB Content brings you DFCSG's programme notes from the Spennymoor game.

WELCOME FROM JON SADDINGTON

Two local derbies in a week!  It doesn't come much tougher, but the lads will be up for the battle.

Spennymoor Town are flying this season and have picked up some impressive results including a 2-0 win at Buxton and a 5-1 thrashing of Southport, although they do concede goals as evidenced by 1-4 and 1-3 defeats to Tamworth and Brackley Town respectively.

The Moors currently occupy a play-off position and will be looking to cement their promotion credentials today. Glen Taylor is always a threat, whilst new signing Will Harris also looks dangerous.

From a Darlo perspective, I can see a clear improvement in our possession, organisation, and determination. Recent new signings have added quality and depth to the squad, I'm sure that increased defensive stability, creativity and goals will follow.

Our last outing against Spenny ended in a 3-2 victory for the Quakers, with Jacob Hazel netting twice…let’s hope for more of the same today!

The DFCSG Annual General Meeting took place on Thursday 26th October 2023. I will provide a full update in the Chester City programme on the 11th of November 2023.

Finally, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to the supporters, players, and officials of Spennymoor. Enjoy the game!

DFCSG 2022/23 DRAFT ACCOUNTS

We recently published the DFCSG draft accounts for 2022/23 on YOURCLUB. If you haven't reviewed them yet, you can find them to download within 'Documents' in the 'Your Account' section of the site.

Highlights include a growth in DFCSG membership (and DFC ownership) from 1,150 to 1,274 in comparison to the previous year, as well as a £4,332 rise in membership income, a £6,000 rise in the Super 50/50 Draw profit and an improved 'cash in the bank' position in comparison to 2021/22.

DFCSG has also strengthened its majority shareholding in the football club by just shy of 10% over the last 5 years to 89.25%.

LATEST OWNER GIVEWAY WINNER

As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the DFC Owner experience, we hold special quarterly DFC merchandise raffles that all Owners automatically enter for free! This time we gave away a squad-signed Puma shirt from the 2018/19 season. The draw took place on Wednesday 18th October and the lucky winner was Alec White.

Congratulations, Alec! We hope you enjoy your shirt.

CHRISTMAS EVE FOOTBALL: AN UNWANTED PRESENT

The FSA has reported that the Premier League and broadcasters are set to ignore supporters and schedule a Christmas Eve fixture for the first time since 1995, with Wolves v Chelsea being selected. It would put many supporters in an impossible choice between going to the match or spending festive time with their families.

We're fortunate in the National League North not to have such issues to contend with.

DFCSG AWAY TRAVEL

Our next away fixture is at Farsley Celtic on Saturday 4th November. As usual, we will be running a coach for supporters. The coach will depart from Park Place at 12pm. The price for adult DFCSG members is £20 (£10 juniors) and adult non-members is £23 (£12 juniors).

The following Tuesday (7th November) we’ll be making the trip down the A1 to Peterborough Sports. The coach will depart from Park Place at 3.15pm. The price for adult DFCSG members is £24 (£12 juniors) and adult non-members is £27 (£14 juniors).
