DFCSG News - Scunthorpe United, Tuesday 26th November 2024

Missed yesterday's game or just couldn't get hold of a programme? YOURCLUB Content brings you DFCSG's programme notes from the Scunthorpe United game.

WELCOME FROM JON SADDINGTON

“Wembley, Wembley…we’re the famous Darlington and we’re going to Wembley!”

Only another five wins and you can start planning the big day out. Sorry, I'm getting carried away, but that second half performance against Buxton was so good. Hats off to Cedric Main for a brilliant individual goal, Will Flint for his MOTM performance and credit to Jarrett for being 'Mr Dependable' whenever called upon.

Today we entertain our old foes Scunthorpe United. The Iron are historically one of the best-supported clubs in non-league and, just like Darlo, are aiming to for a return to the Football League following turbulent times.

At the time of writing, Scunny occupy 4th place and are pushing hard to secure a play-off place. Recent form has been patchy and includes a defeat to Warrington Rylands in the FA Trophy.

Former Newcastle United and Blyth Spartans forward, Callum Roberts, is the club's top scorer on eight goals and he's likely to be partnered by recent signing and former Quakers striker, Mark Beck. Becky is highly regarded amongst Darlo fans, so it won't be pleasant to see him line-up against us, but that's football. We wish Becky all the very best at new Club…except for this evening!

Quakers ran out 4-0 winners at Blackwell last season with goals from Matty Cornish, Cam Salkeld and Cedric Main. Is it too much to ask for a repeat performance?

Finally, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to the supporters, players, and officials of Scunthorpe United.
