DFCSG News - Farsley Celtic, Saturday 5th April 2025
By David Steel
Missed yesterday's game or just couldn't get hold of a programme? YOURCLUB Content brings you DFCSG's programme notes from the Farsley Celtic game.
WELCOME FROM JON SADDINGTON
To quote Peter Ustinov: "It’s the hope that kills you"...or was it Ted Lasso?
The play-offs are still in sight after a decent win at Warrington. Debut goals from Will McGowan and Louis Storey, and a cool finish from Cedric Main, secured all three points. Five wins from five would see us finish on 77 points, which would usually be enough to secure a play off place. Boston finished on 75 points last season and won promotion to the National League.
Today presents an excellent opportunity to tick off another win. It's been a season to forget for our opponents, Farsley Celtic. Paul Barthorpe resigned as Chairman of the 'Celts Army' back in February following months of turmoil on and off the pitch. The Club is currently playing its home games 70 miles away in Buxton due to delays in installing a new 4G pitch at their ground. Unpaid wages resulted in a flurry of player departures after Christmas. Former Quaker, David Stockdale, was installed as first team manager following Barthorpe’s departure, as the remaining Directors sought to steady the ship.
However, the Celts have lost their last 12 games on the bounce, and you need to look back to 5th November for Farsley’s last league win, 0-2 at Kings Lynn Town.
Unless something extraordinary happens today, then Darlo should run out comfortable winners. Victory would leave us with four to play and continued prospects of securing a play-off place. Chester away would take on increased importance...and become another big day out for the travelling faithful.
Finally, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to the supporters, players, and officials of Farsley Celtic.
