D-A-R-L-O, WE ARE D-A-R-L-O! - Telford (25/26)
By David Steel
Across the 2025/26 season, YOURCLUB Content will bring you the inside track on the Darlo fans who have got the chance to pick the music played at one of our home games this season thanks to their 2025 ‘Boost The Budget’ contribution…and bring you their playlist too!
AFC Telford, Monday 25th August - Ian Serginson
I first started going to watch Darlo in 1965 – that was lucky!
I played football for Star Juniors in the Darlington Junior League and we played our home matches at South Park. We finished playing just before half-time at Darlo's game, so we nipped up Polam Lane and the gateman let us on for free. So it began!
Our goalkeeper at that time was Jeff Wealands, who went on to play for Darlo and who later signed for Man Utd as Gary Bailey's cover.
My favourite players include Alan Sproates, Carl Airey, Alan Walsh, David Speedie, Marco Gabbiadini, Gary Brown and, of course, Thommo.
Memorable games include any win over Poolie, the Trophy Final victory, the 4-3 comeback win at Salford and, of course, that unbelievable night at Whitby, especially Graeme Armstrong's bullet header!
