D-A-R-L-O, WE ARE D-A-R-L-O! - Merthyr Town (26/27)

By Steve Rees

Across the 2026/27 season, YOURCLUB Content will bring you the inside track on the Darlo fans who have got the chance to pick the music played at one of our home games this season thanks to their 2026 ‘Boost The Budget’ contribution…and bring you their playlist too!

Merthyr Town, Saturday 10th October 2026 - Robert Colgrave

I started following Darlington FC around 1996. I can't remember my first game, but I can remember singing "Super Darren Roberts!", and I was hooked from then on.

In the Feethams days I used to go with my two uncles, my cousins and my friends.

I never made it to Plymouth, but I remember Peterborough like it was yesterday: the rain running down my face on the way out, the long coach ride home, and the general pain of feeling absolutely robbed.

Peterborough Wembley 2000

The Arena years are something I try to block out, but one highlight was beating Rochdale in the play-offs. We all know how that ended.

Winning at Wembley is one of my favourite memories of following the club. Chris Senior must be due a stand at any new ground we ever build.

More recently, following Darlington has come full circle. I now go with my daughter (when it's not raining...), my nephew, and close friends and their children.

I still stand in about the same spot in the Tin Shed as I did as a kid. My Saturday ritual has changed slightly, with a pint instead of a Bovril, but my love for the club hasn't changed one bit!
