D-A-R-L-O, WE ARE D-A-R-L-O! - King's Lynn Town (26/27)

My earliest memory of watching Darlo is aged six at Feethams against Everton in 1969. I remember the excitement of recognising Alan Ball who played for England at the time and who (unfortunately...) scored the only goal of the game.

Helen was always destined to be a Darlo fan thanks to her dad Henry Bartle, who was a lifelong fan. Her mum Dorothy still has a season ticket today. Dorothy often jokes that when Helen's sister Dawn was born in November 1960 Henry's visits to Greenbank hospital were cut short, so he could make it to Feethams in time for kick off.

We have both been season ticket holders at Feethams, the Arena, Heritage Park and Blackwell Meadows, and have great memories of all those places.

Despite the injustice of our demotion, we've actually really enjoyed the climb back up the leagues since 2012. We've seen some great grassroots players at some interesting grassroots grounds. Lots of local away games and lots of wins. Promotion at Heritage Park, 7-1 at Whitby, etc; the list is endless.

Like everyone else we are frustrated that our progress seems to have stalled, but also like everyone else we understand the reasons why - and keep hoping!

Our funniest memory has to be watching Darlo warm up and play for 15 minutes in torrential rain at Kendal on New Years Day 2015. One side of the pitch was renamed 'the deep end' and we were just glad that Thommo could swim!

Our favourite memory is that last minute goal in the Trophy Final at Wembley and the celebrations that followed. A great weekend!

It's hard to pick a favourite player, each era brings new ones. Although we never saw him play Ron Greener is up there with the greats and we are still friendly with his widow. He always had forthright comments to make about some of the players we watched at the Arena - it’s probably a good job that they weren’t around to hear them!

We would love to see another mural of Ronnie at our new stadium.
